When I came across this event that is taken place in Glasgow i was extremely excited, as it has one aspect which is very different than other marathons, it is in the DARK! The event is organized by cancer research UK, allowing you to pick a chosen cancer which you would like to support when entering the race.
Shine Glasgow is a new event this year is only the second year running, the vent is taken place in three places Manchester, London and Glasgow. As the event is at night time, lights are needed, lights is a major thing for the event as to them it is a symbol of hope.

This event has many opportunities for everyone to take part or even help out by making donations and support. The event allows you to mix business with pleasure as work colleagues have an opportunity to join in on this unique event. This can be done by entering as a team, providing drinks and food along the way for walkers. This idea can make a big difference to the event and even make a difference in the work place as you are working together in a team.

AS the race is a marathon the distance covered is 26 miles, this is a long time training is needed, even if it’s just walking for half an hour per day.  The event has an entry fee  of  £30, this money will go towards hosting the event, meaning  that all sponsorships money goes towards you chosen cancer.

At the same time of the Full marathon, the half marathon will take place, entry fee the exact same. The half marathons are there so families and other entry’s who are not able to take part in a full marathon as it is walking only race and half the distance.

Shine has a number of partners that support this event such as network rail, who will be encouraging their staff members to take part. Also Aqua Pura supports this event by providing hydration stations for both the half marathon and the full marathon.
